After late-night conversations about how Ireland was once covered in trees, pondering together what it means for a landscape to lose its flora at large in this way, East Forest and Peter Broderick set about making their first rhythm-centric song. The bed of acoustic rhythm was the starting point for this piece, allowing melodic elements to then be added on top, drifting in and out. While East Forest worked meticulously on the timbre and production of all the various acoustic elements in the song, Broderick wrote a poem based on their conversations the night before, which was then read by Krishna’s partner Radha, who was also present during this week of creativity, providing moral support and helping to keep them all fed and get them out of the house now and again to explore the amazing landscape. Aside from the various field recordings gathered from their surroundings (including the blazing wood stove heard in this piece), Radha’s voice is the only sound on the album not performed by Forest or Broderick.
